Perssons Sexa is a modern jazz sextet from Malmö, Sweden, playing original music by composer and saxophone player Jens Persson. The group continues and builds upon an American and Nordic jazz tradition where the highly expressive American spiritual jazz with its strong melodies and colourful sound meets the Swedish melancholy and pensiveness.
Since the self titled debut (2013) Perssons Sexa has toured around Europe, produced two albums (third release “Vol III” 2022-09-16) and collaborated with awesome musicians on stage and on recordings; Lina Nyberg, Lisbeth Diers, Karolina Almgren and Ellen Pettersson. In 2017 the band was nominated in the category “best group of the year” at the Swedish Radio jazz awards “Jazzkatten”.
